If you have a permanent address, you are eligible for a Sausalito Library card, which can be used at all public libraries in Marin County, as well as at Dominican University and the College of Marin.

New Patron Online Registration: Online registration for an immediate full-access library card is available for Marin County residents aged 16 years or older. A valid credit card with a Marin County billing address is required for address verification purposes only. Your credit card will not be charged.

New Patron Registration at the Library: You may also obtain a library card with full borrowing privileges by visiting the Sausalito Library and showing verification of residential address with a government-issued picture ID (e.g. a driver's license), provided your current address is on the ID. If you have a government ID but the address is out of date, or there is no address on the ID (e.g. a passport), please also bring documentation of your current address in the form of any of the following:

  • Personal check
  • Utility bill
  • Rental agreement
  • Rent receipt
  • Bank statement
  • Voter registration card
  • Cancelled mail with name and address

You do not need to be a Sausalito resident to be eligible for a card.

If you are under 16, you will need to go to the Sausalito Library with your parent or legal guardian to verify your registration information and write your name on your new library card. If you are not yet able to write your first name, please use the library card of your parent or guardian.
