The Parks and Recreation Commission meets regularly at 6:30 PM on the third Wednesday of each month. The Parks and Recreation Commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council. Each member is appointed for a three year term. The purpose of the Commission is to advise the City Council on development and maintenance of the City’s parks and on broad-based recreation programs. Commissioners also participate in variety of special events sponsored by the Sausalito Parks & Recreation Department such as the annual Caledonia Street Fair, Easter Parade, Fourth of July Celebration, Halloween Parade and Chili Cook-Off. The Commission has also been very successful in promoting and receiving input on various recreation services from the public and advises the Parks & Recreation Department based on the community’s feedback.

Purpose: The role of the Commission is to make recommendations to and advise the City Council in all matters of policy pertaining to the recreation, operation, maintenance, management and control of all parks, playgrounds, community recreation programs and activities.

Applications are accepted for any Board/Commission year-round and are kept on file for ONE year after receipt of the application.
