The following positions are part-time, temporary jobs in our Parks & Recreation Department
and will remain open until filled:
Recreation Leader 1: Special Event Staff
Special Event Staff are responsible for set-up, management, and tear-down of City special events. The primary shifts are for our summer concert series, Jazz and Blues by the Bay, and are every Friday from June 2nd to August 25th from 3:30pm to 9:00pm. The event staff will set-up the tables, chairs, and cooking area, they will staff the parking space sales, and then tear everything down when the concert is over. Meals are provided.
We will also need staff for:
July 4th (Parade, Picnic and Fireworks)
September 23rd (Chili Cook Off)
October 8th (City Wide Yard Sale)
October 31st (Halloween Sausalito)
To be considered for this position, you must be available for the majority of the dates listed above.
Requirements of position: Ability to lift and carry 25lbs, able to work independently and discern which tasks need to be done next and the initiative to do them, excellent people skills when interacting with event guests, strong ability to follow directions.

Recreation Leader I: Bocce League Referee
Starting at $10/hr
Bocce Ball is a bowling type game involving two teams competing to roll closest to an object ball. A bocce referee is responsible for telling the teams what the current point is, which team is responsible for rolling, keeping track of the 35 minute game time and keeping score of the match. Prior to games beginning, referees are responsible for grooming the courts with a drag bar and setting out trash cans near the courts. At the end of league play, referees are responsible for locking the parking access chain and hauling accumulated trash to a city dumpster.
Shifts are Thursday & Friday beginning at 4:30pm ending at 7:30pm to 8:30pm (depending on available daylight) + Saturday & Sunday mornings are reserved for any rain cancelations. Championship Games are on the final date of the season.
Spring League is scheduled March-May
Summer League is scheduled June-August
Fall League is scheduled September-October
Requirements of position: Ability to visually discern distance and take simple measurements using a tape measure, relay game information clearly, stand for the entire shift, walk from each side of the court, lift and carry 25lbs.
We currently have 2-4 open positions. No experience in the game is necessary. This is a non-benefitted seasonal temporary hourly position.

Recreation Leader II – Playland Front Desk
Starting at $11/hr
Playland is a toddler-youth program for children age 0-7, MLK Gymnasium is filled with interactive toys, bounce houses and provides kids a safe space to play and have fun. Front Desk staff assist with check-in, take payment using cash handing software, fill out daily close reports, balance cash and make change, and drop off deposits to the city’s finance department.
Requirements of Position: Must provide excellent customer service and clear information/directions, speak and understand English, work well with young children, have basic computer skills and be able to efficiently handle cash & credit card transactions. The gymnasium environment is fairly loud with equipment and sound system constantly running.
We are currently seeking substitute/on-call staff to fill in occasionally. Shifts are 8:45-12:15 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This is a non-benefitted temporary hourly position.

Recreation Specialist – Commercial Passenger Vehicle Driver
Starting at $15/hr
Special interest trips and in town shuttle service are arranged with the Parks and Recreation Department. Drivers are needed to transport passengers for trips booked.
Requirements of position: Drivers must have a California Commercial Driver’s License Class B with a Passenger Endorsement, clean DMV record, and ability to interact courteously with public while enforcing requirements for passenger safety. Must be able to stand, bend, and kneel to perform required vehicle safety inspections and must maintain vigilance and safe vehicle operation for driving assignments.
There are two positions available. This is an as-needed, non-benefited temporary hourly position. There are usually three shifts available per month varying hours depending on destination and passenger itinerary.
