Each January the Sausalito Sustainability Commission sponsors an E-Waste Collection Event. Watch for the next one in 2014. (You'll be better this year and, as a result, will get that big screen you've been wanting.)
HELP SAUSALITO GO ZERO WASTE BY 2025!
Sausalito is a member of the Marin Hazardous and Solid Waste Joint Powers Authority (JPA) which is the group charged with complying with the California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989. The goal of this act is to reduce the flow of materials to landfills. The JPA board is made up of city and town managers and the county administrator. The JPA has a local task force made up of representatives from industry, the environmental community and Marin’s cities, towns and special districts.
In 2007 the JPA set a goal of zero waste disposal by 2025 which means that almost all “waste” materials need to be recycled, reused or sent back to producers. To help meet this goal the JPA has started a “Zero Waste Challenge” campaign. To see what you can do please visit the campaign’s website at: www.ZeroWasteMarin.org.
For more information about the Marin Hazardous and Solid Waste JPA, visit their website at: Marin Sanitary Services.
