Sustainability Meeting
AGENDA for the

6:00 P.M. in the Conference Room at 420 LITHO STREET, SAUSALITO, CA
Thursday, August 14th, 2014

Note that the Sausalito Sustainability Commission may, at its discretion, consider agenda items out of the order in which they are listed. The public may comment on any item on the agenda that has not previously been subject to public comment. To give everyone an opportunity to be heard and to ensure the presentation of different points of view, the Commission requests that members of the audience who speak:

1) Always address the Chair;
2) (Optional) State his/her name;
3) State views succinctly; and
4) Limit presentations to three (3) minutes.

B. Potential new JPA grant of $11,888.00 & uses
C. Permanent compost pile signage has been ordered and standardized MLK directional signage to lead to the pile is pending. Follow up.
D. Public Ashtrays / BaitTanks – Follow up on installation
E. City Hall Solar Power System -- Follow up

5. Bay Cities Refuse Service .
A. Review restaurant rubbish around Yee Tock Chee Park
B. Update on criteria to qualify for residents that need disability help with recycling and composting. …A respresentative from the Age Friendly Task Force will join us to discuss “backyard” assistance
C. Mandatory recycling and composting - tabled discussion until September meeting

6. Public Comment.

PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS: This is the time for the Commission to hear from citizens regarding matters that are not on the agenda. Comments on matters that are on the agenda shall be made at the time the Commission considers those matters. Except in very limited situations, state law precludes the Commission from taking action on or engaging in discussions concerning items of business that are not on the agenda. However, the Commissioners may refer matters not on the agenda to be put on the agenda for a future meeting. Speakers are limited to 3 minutes each.

7. Ongoing Efforts
A. School composting programs - Cynthia continuing to work with Willow Creek Academy
B. Single Use Plastic Bag ordinance – Ongoing education and outreach plans
C. Restaurant and Business composting outreach – Follow up on restaurants visited, and add new visits for the following month. Some restaurants composting, some not.
D. Our Website – review articles given to Greg and added to the site, and what still needs to be written or added
E. Sausalito Community Magazine --- Review Winter edition materials for October 7th deadline theme of BaitTanks, written by Monica & Sue. --- Spring edition deadline of Jan 6th theme is to be on our Zero Waste Goals, allocate someone to write article
F. Green Business Award Program -- review process and criteria from Linda
G. Leaf Blower Ban – tabled until after outreach plans implemented

A. Climate Action Plan discussion and our participation
