Planning Commission to Review Proposed Portuguese Mosaic
Posted Date: 7/14/2017 2:15 PM
On Monday, July 17, the Planning Commission will review designs for a Portuguese mosaic in the plaza that fronts the Bank America building on Bridgeway in downtown Sausalito.

The traditional calçadas stones of the mosaic – and the compass rose design that will be embedded in the pavement – are a gift from the Portuguese city of Cascais, one of Sausalito's three sister cities. In addition to the gift of the calçadas stones, Cascais has offered to send an artisan to do the installation.

The project is being managed and funded by the Sausalito-Cascais Sister City organization, whose professional architects, engineers, and contractors have been working closely with staff from the City's Public Works and Community Development departments. The proposed plaza improvements would also include a wall bench and landscaping.
