WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT REBUILDING THE BRIDGEWAY PUBLIC PIER

As noted in our News Release on December 6, we now have the Open City Hall forum open for commenting on the Bridgeway Public Pier.  The City is engaged in a process to rehabilitate the damaged public pier near the Trident Restaurant on Bridgeway to restore public access and fishing opportunities. This pier has been a part of the City as early as 1936, and has been historically used as a fishing pier. The pier was closed to public access in 2001 due to damage caused by the storm of January 11, 2001. Currently, the only remnants of the pier which remain are twenty-one pilings and the pier framing. The City received a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to repair the public pier. A condition of the grant is that the construction be completed by the end of January 2014, but the City is seeking an extension of that deadline, so that construction be completed by the end of April 2014.

Again, we invite you to participate in this online forum, where you can express your opinion and read what others are saying. Click here to learn more about this rehabilitation project, see an imposed rendition of the proposed project and, finally, share your thoughts.
