The City of Sausalito is lead agency in an effort to develop plans for improvements of the intersection of Gate 6 Road, Bridgeway, North Bridge Boulevard, Highway 101.

The City of Sausalito invites interested persons to comment on improvements being considered at the Intersection of Bridgeway/Gate 6 Road/Highway 101/North Bridge Boulevard.

The purpose of the project is to improve operations, traffic flow and safety for all travelers (including motorists, cyclists and pedestrians) departing from Gate 6 Road, and for pedestrians/cyclists crossing Bridgeway in the existing crosswalk.

At the direction of City Council, a workshop was held on January 15, 2014 to discuss alternatives that have been developed and analyzed, as well as to give the public the opportunity to comment on the alternatives to improve operations.  Comments can be made until February 14, 2014.  Email comments can be sent to PublicWorks@ci.sausalito.ca.us

Update on the Gate 6 Road Improvements Project as of March 2015:

The City of Sausalito is lead agency in an effort to develop plans for improvements of the intersection of Gate 6 Road, Bridgeway, North Bridge Boulevard, and Highway 101. The purpose of the project is to improve operations, traffic flow and safety for all travelers (including motorists, cyclists and pedestrians) using that complex intersection.

At the direction of City Council, a workshop was held on January 15, 2014 to discuss the alternatives that had been developed and analyzed, as well as to give the public the opportunity to comment on the alternatives to improve operations. With action of March 4, 2014, the City Council accepted Staff's recommendations regarding a Preferred Alternative and additional details have been developed by the project delivery and an Encroachment Permit for the work has been applied for from Caltrans. The City is also actively seeking construction funding for this project in collaboration with Marin County and the Transportation Authority of Marin. The preliminary construction cost estimate is $360,000 without knowing what additional modifications may end up being necessary based on Caltrans' Encroachment Permit conditions. The City hopes to link these improvements with the Harbor to Gate 6 Road segment in the Path Plan, Marin County's planned improvements to the Sausalito-Mill Valley Multi-Use Path, pedestrian and bicycle improvements linking to the Marin City Transit Center and Safe Pathways to School Projects, and in the best of all worlds, improvements to Alexander Ave between Sausalito's south City Limits and the Bridge and our South Gateway Project between south City Limits and Bridgeway. Background and other information on this project is available on the City's website under "Public Works Hot Topics." . If you have questions regarding this project, please contact Jonathon Goldman, Director of Public Works, City Engineer and ADA Coordinator at 415-289-4176 or jgoldman@ci.sausalito.ca.us.
